Day 68 Egytian Goose Ducklings
These little Egyptian Goose ducklings are just the cutest little things. By the way, an Egyptian Goose is a duck and not a Goose.
Day 60 The Monkey Tree
Loved seeing these monkeys climbing and jumping around in this tree.
Day 54 Namaqua Chameleon
This is quite a large chameleon found in the Namibia to Angola desert regions. It can run very fast and lives on beetles,insects,scorpions and will even eat smaller chameleons.
They remind me of prehistoric creatures.
Day 48 To Put A Smile On Your Face
Little Ostrich chicks running after their parents, so cute you have to smile.
Day 47 Black Girdled Lizard
The Black Girdled Lizard is indigenous to the South Western Cape. They are seen mostly on rocky outcrops and usually facing the sun (called sonkykers in Afrikaans).
They are listed as "Near Threatened" on the Red List. They are quite popular as pets and are used for traditional medicine.
Day 45 Caught In The Act
Found this little domestic cat at Intaka Island busy hunting for brown-striped mice for brunch. Managed to re-direct his attention and the mouse got away .... this time.
Day 43 Heady Maiden
This insect is called a Heady Maiden, it is actually a day-flying moth with such beautiful markings.
Day 28 Yellow-Billed Duck
The stunning colours of the blue wing and the yellow beak are too beautiful.
Day 24 A Purple Heron In The Flowers
A Purple Heron out scouting for food among the flowers.
Day 21 This Time Next Week We Will Be In Kruger
This time next week we will be in Sukuza in the Kruger National Park and would be out and about on our first drive.
We have never been so far South before but are hoping to see Wild Dogs and Cheetah, both of which we have never encountered in the wild before. It is more than that it is the open spaces, the unexpected sightings, the wonder at just being there in the wild, it is also the sounds and smells.
I cannot wait the excitement is already mounting, checklists have been drawn up, camera gear to the ready and Kruger here we come.
