This Franklin’s Gull is a a vagrant, visitor to our shores from the breeding grounds in the Central North American prairies. We managed to catch up with him on his recent visit to Strandfontein in the Western Cape.

I Saw this Mandela Tea in the supermarket and love the pictures, bright and colourful. A Rooibos tea and a Honeybush and Buchu tea, so truly South African in every way.
I wonder if this tea was produced by the Mandela family or if they had just lent their name to the brand?
Have you tried the tea, let us know what you think?

The other day I stopped by the garage shop and saw this sticker on one of the poles, it says “Be kind I dare you” it made me think about this sticker a lot.
Who had made these stickers and had them printed? Why had they made them, what was the purpose? Were they trying to promote kindness or was it part of an advertising promotion? Did they only put it here or in other places in Cape Town?
I love the idea of spreading kindness as I do believe that real kindness can achieve so much and can have a profound effect on peoples lives. It costs so little, requires very little effort and then the question arises, why do we not do it instinctively as part of our everyday life and why do we all not practice it more often? Perhaps we need to have these little stickers everywhere, daring us to be kind.
No kind action ever stops with itself. One kind action leads to another. Good example is followed. A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees. The greatest work that kindness does to others is that it makes them kind themselves.

The Chinese Garden of Friendship was such a beautiful and serene place to visit. We spent quite some time just peacefully walking around this wonderful place.
These gemlike, colourful Zinnias were an absolute magnet in the Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney.
This crazy Pacific Black Duck just wanted to be king of the pond and he was warning everyone, loud and clear, to keep away. What a big mouth 🙂
